Department of Agriculture Engineering

Department Profile

The department of Agricultural Engineering was started in MANGAYARKARASI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (MCE), MADURAI, in 2020. The department offers B. E/B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering, focusing on widening the practical knowledge of the students thus encouraging them to solve different practical difficulties in large-land holdings. Well-qualified faculty members are the strength of the department. The department constitutes experienced and dedicated faculty and supporting staff members with excellent academic research and industrial work experience to promote research and intervention in the existing methods. Presently, the faculty consists of experts from Irrigation Engineering and agricultural processing, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, food technology and agriculture. Further, the practical knowledge gained by them during practical field works and industrial visits has been added advantage for new technology and innovations. The department is new in offering the degree program in the institute. At present there are 120 students are admitted in the degree program, and the department is envisage more students in the future. The Department of Agriculture Engineering have an agriculture Field of 10 Acres (MAA FARMS) inside the campus with the specialization of Mushroom cultivation.

Vision & Mission

VISION

Educating and empowering the students to become successful agricultural engineers and entrepreneurs to elicit research capability that applies science and technology to enhance agricultural productivity, farm mechanization, irrigation engineering, conservation of water, energy and post-harvest handling and value addition with a sound knowledge of agricultural principles.

MISSION
  • To train and prepare the students with general knowledge and expertise in the fields of agricultural sciences, soil and water conservation, post-harvest technology and agro energy.
  • To set up the required facilities in the laboratories to satisfy the needs of industry and R&D.
  • To build expertise on the different facets of agricultural engineering to make graduates grow as entrepreneurs, scientists, educators and sustainable food production technologists which meet the food needs of the ever-increasing population of our country.
